CS as a growth lever: Retention focus to growth focus with data and AI
Customer Success has always been measured on what it saves, that is changing fast. Boards now expect CS to account for a growing share of net revenue retention, and in many companies CS is being handed expansion targets and the renewal forecast. AI is what makes that shift realistic: the same usage, support and commercial data that once fed churn alerts can now surface expansion opportunities, flag accounts ready for a bigger conversation, and tell a CSM which customer to call this week and why. This session looks at what it takes to move a CS team from defending revenue to growing it. We’ll cover how to build a single view of customer signals that sales, product and CS all trust, how to use AI to spot growth moments without turning CSMs into quota-chasing reps, and how to redesign comp, coverage and metrics so the team is rewarded for growth, not only for saves. Key takeaways: - How to combine product usage, support and commercial data into expansion signals your team can act on - Where AI can predict growth readiness reliably today, and where human judgment still decides the conversation - How to change CS metrics, comp and handoffs with sales so growth ownership does not damage customer trust - How to make CS’s contribution to NRR visible to the CFO and the board
